AASA to Expand National Presence

The Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA) will have a greatly increased national level circuit racing presence in 2026, with the addition of three brand-new series and new feature events.

In total there will be 12 AASA national level circuit racing events in 2026, six of which will be made up by the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series Season 4 – 2026.

The AASA is delighted to launch the new AASA Nationals Series – 2026, a four-round short course interstate series that enables more categories to race at a national level without the price tag.

The series has been established due to the overwhelming success of the Super Series.

The new AASA Nationals Series – 2026 will cater to grass roots and budget focused categories, giving them a national series to race in, offering each category an opportunity to be a feature event.

The condensed 1.5-2 day AASA Nationals format, combined with more affordable short course track selections will significantly lower entry fees

Additionally, the AASA Nationals Series - 2026 will offer increased racing laps and race intensity, provide unique event formats and provide high-quality Super Series style live streaming at each event.

The four venues chosen for the AASA Nationals Series – 2026 are, the 2.8km Sydney Motorsport Park Druitt layout, One Raceway, Mallala Motorsport Park and the original layout at Calder Park Raceway.

Categories on the platform include Legend Cars Australia, AASA National Formula Ford Championship, Hyundai Excels, Stock Cars Australia, Australian Drivers’ Championship and Formula RX8, with more to be announced in due course.

A unique element of the AASA Nationals Series is that each round a category will be competing for its AASA Short Track National Title.

The AASA Short Track National Titles will run a similar format to dirt speedway, with random draw heats, Top 10 Dash, B Main, and a winner-takes-all A Main final.

The AASA Short Track National Title victor will have the privilege of running the Aussie green and gold number #1 on their vehicle for the next 12 months, as the official ‘AASA Short Track Champion.’

Legends Cars Australia and Formula Ford have already committed to the full series with more categories to be announced in due course.

The AASA National Series is not the only new platform to be launched in 2026, the AASA Endurance 300 Series and AASA Endurance 200 Series will also be debuting in 2026.

The three round AASA Endurance 300 Series has been created for Winton 300 teams and cars to compete in more endurance races and fight for a championship.

The regulations and format are identical to the successful Winton 300 event, with prizes and prize money on offer also.

The AASA Endurance 200 Series, a 200km endurance series has been created for one make racing categories such as Excels, Pulsars, RX8s and 86 Scholarship cars to race against each other in an endurance format for both outright and class honours.

Like the 300km races, the field will be performance balanced via variations within the mandatory pit stop times allowing all cars and teams to be in the running for outright victory.

The AASA Endurance 200 Series will accept both single driver and co-driver combinations. The 200 Series will race the day prior to the 300 Series if at the same event, allowing drivers and teams the option to contest both championships on any given weekend.

More information on these events will be released in coming days.

In addition to the AASA Endurance 300 and 200 Series and AASA National Series – 2026, the AASA will also announce two special events that will run in 2026, these will be announced soon.

The AASA website will provide more information on all of these news stories shortly.

Marcos Ambrose – AASA Competition and Commercial Director

“AASA continue looking for ways to provide value and improved products for our members and competitors,” Ambrose said.

“Due to the success of the Hi Tec Oils Super Series Season 4 – 2026, it quickly became obvious that we needed to offer more events and formats to cater to our growing category and competitor base.

“The AASA Nationals Series - 2026 will be a national level series without the price tag.

“If we can reduce costs to put on a race weekend, we can share those savings with our competitors. That is the aim – put on the best event possible for the cheapest cost so our teams and drivers can spend their money on what matters most and that’s hard racing and going fast!

“Adding the Endurance 200 and 300 Series is very exciting. The Winton 300 is one of the best grass roots events in Australia, it sells out in hours of entries opening, so we think the Endurance 300 series will give those teams more chances to race across the year. The format, rules and prices won’t be touched – just more racing.

“I can’t wait to see how the endurance 200 Series goes. On a test and tune day you always see RX8s, Excels, Pulsars and Scholarship 86s together on the track. They are all fairly close in lap times so why not bunch them all together and go endurance racing!

“It will be the best value for money racing anywhere in the country. We will balance out the speed and fuel usage by varying the minimum pit stop times between classes so any team can be in contention for outright victory.

“Some tracks will suit different cars, but over the three-round series, we should get a worthy winner – both outright and in class honours.”

Stephen Whyte – AASA CEO

“The overwhelming feedback from our customers has always been that they want more affordable racing,” Whyte said. “Marcos has been putting that together with the tracks and creating more opportunities than ever before for our AASA customers.

“A clear pathway is being created from the state level through to the national level with the introduction of these new series and events to complement the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series.

“To have 12 National events rolling out in 2026 shows our commitment to the sport. Marcos is working with the AASA team to further strengthen our structure and resources. His focus is not for just 2026, but for the years ahead. It’s Exciting times.”
