Aus Time Attack 2025

It was an extremely competitive year for Aus Time Attack at Winton Motor Raceway this year with less than a tenth of a second separating multiple class winners across two days of competition.

The bitterly cold event this year posed a challenge for drivers looking to balance engine and tyre temperatures in the hunt for that one perfect lap.

The first day of competition saw all eyes on 2024 ATA champion Aleck Kazakovski who would immediately rocket to the top of the timing in his first and only session of the event to set the bar just a single tenth off his ‘24 winning time, over a second ahead of the competition. The fastest of 5 cars from the Got It Rex team would fail to improve on Sunday, however, having lost a front differential and ultimately lost out by just 0.099 of a second to the bright red Honda, BYP’s front wheel drive monster, piloted by Benny Tran who would set a blistering 1:20.708 to take both Pro class and outright victory.

Incredibly, 0.099 was not the smallest margin for victory this year, as Clubsprint class would see an even more unbelievably close fight for the top spot with near identical lap times as David Calabria inched his Evo ahead of Michael Garland’s Subaru by 0.083 of a second to finish 6th outright and 1st in Clubsprint. Paul Singh would come home third in class just three tenths further back behind Garland.

Open Class would see yet another Got It Rex supported car on the podium as Troy Patterson and his beautifully presented Coore Racing WRX would take class victory setting a 1.27.125. Over a second back was George Jeffcott’s Toyota 86 and in third place the WRX of Daniel Watt.

The most popular class of the event, Prodsprint would see a massive 25 entrants representing a great array of manufacturers from the European to Japanese performance models with Korean and Australian brands represented as well. The BMW M2 of Hailong Wang would take a convincing victory with a time of 1:29.061 ahead of an almighty three car battle for the final two spots of the class podium with all three cars split by just 0.18 seconds! Massimiliano Ricca would lead that fight in his BMW M2 Comp ahead of the Toyota Supra of Damian Lococo who secured the third step of the podium by a mere 0.05 of a second.

It was back to back victories in Supercar class for Porsche Cayman GT4RS driver Kiet Nguyen. Behind him another familiar name, Min Duan, in his Porsche 718 Spyder RS. Dileep Mangira rounded out the podium in yet another Porsche, this time a 911, for what was a highly successful weekend of Aus Time Attack competition.

A huge thank you to John Boston and the entire Trackschool team for another amazing year of Time Attack at Winton Raceway.
