Aus Time Attack this weekend

The annual Aus Time Attack event takes place this weekend (June 27-28) at Winton Motor Raceway and has attracted a massive entry list.

Aus Time Attack continues to grow year after year, not only in terms of competitors but also activations around the venue.

Aus Time Attack is run like a traditional qualifying session with drivers trying to set the best single lap over the two days of action, there is no wheel-to-wheel racing.

What makes the event so thrilling is that it is never over until the very last lap on Sunday afternoon.

There are five classes within the Coore/Radium Engineering Aus Time Attack in 2026, Prodsprint, Clubsprint, Supercar, Open and Pro.

The Prodsprint Class is designed to be the entry level class, effectively for production road cars, with strict modification restrictions and tyre limits to contain the costs.

It is the most popular class this year with no less than 31 machines entered to take part from Supras to BMW M products, Hyundai i20Ns and all-wheel-drive Subaru WRXs.

The Clubsprint Class is nearly as popular with 30 cars entered within the category, technical regulations are slightly more open in this class. It contains similar machines, but additionally a Mustang GT and Lotus Exige.

Open Class allows further freedoms beyond Clubsprint, whilst retaining some restrictions.

The Pro Class is highest level of Time Attack racing in Australia, these machines are serious weapons with insane aerodynamics on the front and rear of the car as well as very limited engine regulations.

The newest category is the Supercar Class, it has solely been created for Supercars that are road registered. Your Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, etc.

It is a non-stop schedule, with each entrant getting nine, 12-minute sessions across the two days of competitive activities.

Action takes place from 9am-5pm on Saturday and 9am-3.45pm on Sunday. Friday is also an optional practice day for competitors.

Off-track there will be entertainment with Enthusiast Insurance getting involved in a big way.

Enthusiast Insurance will be running free on-track cruise laps as part of free cars and coffee event.  Enthusiast Sessions will be running from 9am-5pm, with cruise laps kicking off from 12pm.

Enthusiast Insurance has also hinted that a few more surprises are in the works also.
