Inaugural Short Track Nationals schedule released

The provisional schedule has been released for the inaugural AASA Short Track Nationals which takes place on April 25-26 at Sydney Motorsport Park.

As the name would suggest, the Short Track Nationals will be held on small circuits, with the first one being held on the 2.8km Druitt Circuit.

The first event in Sydney plays host to TFH Hire Legend Cars Australia Short Track Nationals, with the pocket rockets boasting a staggering 13 races across the two-day event.

The support categories are the Yokohama AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship, Stock Cars Australia, Formula Rx8 and AASA TT.

In a similar format to speedway, the Legends Short Track Nationals will run no qualifying sessions, there will be heats, dashes and finals.

Saturday’s action will commence under lights at 6.30pm with the sole Legends Cars Australia practice session.

In total on Saturday Legend Cars Australia will have four heat races.

The action runs through until 10.30pm, Formula RX8 and Stock Cars Australia will have a qualifying and race each, while the Yokohama Tyres AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship competitors will have two 20-minute practice sessions.

A bulk of Sunday’s action also occurs under lights, racing commences at 2.00pm but runs through until 10.30pm once again.

On Sunday Legends will have its final two heat races, odds and even races, Top 8 Dash, B Main and winner take all A Main.

The support categories will also have a big day of non-stop action, both Formula RX8s and Stock Cars Australia will run three races each. Formula Ford will qualify before having two races under lights.

AASA TT joins the program on Sunday with a practice session, qualifying and three races.
