Mildura’s Mallee Skid Fest

Last month the Sunraysia Burnout Association (SBA) successfully ran the 2026 edition of the Mallee Skid Fest, located in Mildura.

The highly anticipated event on the river land was held on June 6 and delivered on the promise, with so much action throughout the day.

All of the burnout runs were judged and scored based on instant smoke, constant smoke, volume of smoke, driver skill, and popped tyres, with strict deductions for reversals, hits on the barrier, or failing to drive off the pad.

There were many classes within the event based on driver age and engine size etc.

In the Junior class Callan Mathews took the top step, followed by Zac Ferguson and Lucas Yuill.

In the six-Cylinder class Ben Yuill claimed the victory, from Scot Cahill and Aaron Paisley.

The thundering eight-cylinder category was dominated by Darren Anderson, Brett Nagyidai finished second, with Tyson Lee third.

It was a great day for Michael Coumva, he not only won the Open/Blown category, but he also took home the Best Presented award.

Other awards went to Bradley Macgibbon for the Best Tip In, while Benjamin Hallam earnt the Hard Luck award.

The event showcased the very best of Motorsport comradery, all drivers pitched in to help each other fix mechanical issues and make sure they got back to continue competing.

Adding to the weekend's excitement was Luke from Mallee Motorcycles, he completed several runs in a 2026 EV Demo bike, giving a glimpse into the high-torque future on two wheels.

The Mallee Skid Fest promises to return bigger and better in 2027.
