Revised AASA Race Series calendar
The Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA) can confirm a change to its 2026 AASA Race Series calendar, while also announcing elements of its schedule for next season.
The historic Sandown Motor Raceway will conclude the 2026 AASA Race Series on December 4-6 ensuring a continued six round schedule.
Calder Park remains in its slot on November 13-15, but will act as the penultimate round of the 2026 AASA Race Series as the previous fifth round at Winton has been cancelled.
In addition to this alteration to the 2026 calendar, plans are well underway to confirm next year’s schedule starting with the continuation of two rounds held at Queensland Raceway; these dates will be announced in due course.
The December 4-6 weekend was reserved by AASA at Sandown to conclude its Short Track Nationals season, but it will instead transfer to its AASA Race Series platform.
Categories and the event format are yet to be determined, but the event is expected to be one of the largest held by AASA at a national level.
The AASA Race Series next heads to Queensland Raceway for its Fight in the Night event marking its second round at the Ipswich venue in 2026, which is a format due to continue heading into 2027.
AASA CEO Stephen Whyte, alongside Queensland Raceway General Manager Josh Macfarlane, confirmed the intent for the venue to host two AASA Race Series events in 2027, with further details to be confirmed in due course.

“Having the last two rounds of the series in a capital city works well for all our teams and planning, we will incorporate an end of season function to close off the year at Sandown.
“It’s no secret we didn’t expect to step up to promote and run the series again, but we have and we know how important this series is to our customers and categories that have been loyal to AASA.
“We have the Calendar for 2027 close to completion, so we hope to get that to our stakeholders in the next few weeks.”

“Stephen and I have already locked down dates for 2027,” he said.
“2 days of Thunder and Fight in the Night are an important part of our events calendar and work well with the AASA-sanctioned Queensland Racing Drivers Championship.
“Fight in the Night is always a great event. We will have other activations including drifting, happy laps, food vans, children’s activities and fireworks.
“We’re looking forward to a big crowd coming out.”
