The 2025 AASA Victorian Sprint Kart Championship was a Record-Breaking Success

The Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA) is thrilled to reflect on a monumental weekend of grassroots motorsport at the Geelong Kart Club (GKC), which successfully hosted the annual AASA Victorian Sprint Kart Championship. With practice on Saturday and a full day of racing on Sunday, this one-off State Championship event is a welcoming place for grass roots competitors and a highlight of the AASA karting calendar.

The event was executed with remarkable efficiency, running "so very smoothly" despite the higher-than-usual numbers. This speaks volumes about the dedication and professionalism of the GKC team, to whom the AASA extends its deepest gratitude for upholding the highest standards of safety and event management.

Record Entries and Elevated Competition

The 2025 Championship saw an unprecedented surge in participation. A staggering 149 entries were received, representing a colossal 50% increase compared to the previous year and marking a record high. This growth highlights the increasing appeal of AASA-sanctioned karting.

The field was highly diverse, covering all ages from 6 years old up to a 73-year-old veteran, and included drivers from multiple Australian states who traveled to Geelong for the event.

The racing was intensely competitive across the 13 total classes, with a noticeable increase in the standard of competition from the previous two years. The format included a 6-minute qualifying session, one heat, a pre-final, and the ultimate final. After a slightly damp start in the morning, the track dried out for mostly dry racing conditions during the main events.

Rewarding Performance and Future Growth

In recognition of the hard-fought competition, substantial prizes were awarded. The prize pool included six sought-after AIM timing systems, 13 sets of tyres (one for each class), five vouchers from DJM Kart Shop, and various random draw prizes.

The AASA confirms the GKC State Championship will be back on in 2026. Furthermore, in an exciting expansion effort, a AASA Queensland State Title is set to be added to our karting calendar next year.

The AASA proudly salutes the 2025 champions from an amazing day of full-on racing and competition:
