Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship field set for Round 2

Sydney Motorsport Park’s Druitt Circuit awaits the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship, which will support the TFH Legends Short Track Nationals event on April 25-26.

The Bend marked the start of a new era for Formula Ford in March where reigning GR Cup Series winner Oli Wickham led the way after two race victories across the weekend.

Wickham will aim to stamp his authority on the title in Sydney, but plenty of worthy contenders emerged following the opening two rounds of the season at The Bend.

Jamie Rowe sits two-points behind in the standings after taking his maiden victory at national level, while Isaac Demellweek also took his first victory to sit 13-points off the lead.

Consistency was key for Seth Burchartz and he remains in touch with the leading trio just 35-points off Wickham.

Rookie Sam March leads a close pack containing Giuseppe Imbrogno, Tabitha Ambrose, Lachlan Mineeff, Kaleb Belak and Brad James, which rounds out the top 10 in the standings.

Previous podium finishers Hunter Salvatore and Will Lowing sit outside the top 10 after tough opening rounds, but the pair will be drivers to watch in Sydney.

Top 10 finishes for Ryan DeBorre highlighted an impressive start to his campaign, while fellow rookies Jett Leicester, Will Hickey, Xavier Henderson and Rio Campbell will hope to bolster their points totals.

Racing will be held under lights on Sunday night, with free entry for spectators and the round can be viewed on Clay-Per-View.

Sydney hosts the first of two consecutive events for the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship. The field will travel to Queensland Raceway for the 2 Days of Thunder, the second round of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series on May 1-3.
