Annual Historic Winton on this weekend
There will be plenty to see and do at the 48th running of Historic Winton, taking place this weekend May 24-25 at Winton Motor Raceway. Highlights will include a Jaguar raced by Sir Stirling Moss and an all-Mini race.
Historic Winton remains of the venues highest attended events, with race fans old and young visiting the venue to see some classic cars.
The event is presented by the Austin 7 club and showcases cars from as far back as the 1920s, through to cars from the 80s.
In total, there will be 36 races across the weekend, categories include ‘50s to ‘70s sedans containing FJ Holdens, Minis, and Valiants. Historic Formula Ford and Group S just to name a few.
Spectators will not only be able to witness all the action on track, but they will also have free access to the pit and paddock area.
“Younger spectators will be surprised by the power of some of these older cars,” said Event Chairman John Kessner.
“This along with paddocks full of vehicles on display, visits to the competition paddock to see the race cars up close, parades of specially selected vehicles and the automotive market, will give families loads to do.”
While there will be no motorbikes on track this year, the two-wheel enthusiasts should not be disappointed.
“We know that thousands of dedicated historic motoring enthusiasts will pile into Winton Motor Raceway over the weekend,” he said.
The Historic Motorcycle Club of Victoria will showcase some rare and notable motorbikes, while the Shannons Car Park will contain heritage vehicle displays from unusual cars, trucks and even boats, yes… boats.
