Lotus Week 2025: Driving Nirvana

Once a year, the team at Simply Sports Cars do something pretty darn incredible. “Lotus Week” as they call it, is a celebration of sports cars being used the way god intended; a whistle stop tour of the best driving Victoria has to offer both on road and track, for five non-stop days straight!

Mixing a range of performance driving experiences, Lotus Week combines the open road touring of a Supercar Rally with the closed road competition of Tarmac Rally and then throws a track day or two on top for good measure! As a driver, you would be hard pressed to find a better way to spend five consecutive days behind the wheel than this.

Beginning on Monday the 27th at Winton Motor Raceway the week kicked off with a track day. Great way to warm up for what lies ahead! The timing sheets would be topped by a long list of Exige’s, as you’d expect, but with one outlier… None other than Mark O’Connor, SSC Motorsport Manager and Bathurst 12 Hour veteran, setting the second fastest time of the day in the Emira, showcasing just how capable the latest leather trimmed Lotus really is. With the track work complete, it was off to Mt Buller for Dinner.

Tuesday was all about the mountain, closing the infamous Mt Buller Road exclusively for the pack of British sports cars to enjoy, one of the very rare opportunities in which drivers can enjoy this magnificent piece of road closed to the public.

Wednesday looked a little bit more like your traditional supercar rally, touring the open roads from Mt Buller to Marysville, giving driver’s a chance to throw it into 6th gear and recuperate before the next two days of closed road crucible that lay ahead.

Thursday, you guessed it, another epic ribbon of Victorian tarmac closed exclusively for the Lotus team. This time it was the Lake Mountain Access Road, a popular destination for enthusiast Sunday drives thanks to its relative isolation, challenging curves, elevation changes and the location of the Australian Tarmac Rally Lake Mountain Sprint.

Friday, for those with enough strength in their arms to still turn the steering wheel, would sign the week off with one hell of a day. Kicking things off with the one and only Reefton Spur, drivers toured the open roads through the Victorian mountains toward Mt Baw Baw, where you guessed it, the road was once again closed exclusively for Lotus Week in the name of speed and adrenaline. Featuring the tightest and steepest roads yet, Friday gave the drivers one final opportunity to leave it all on the tarmac after what can only be described as a week of motoring enthusiast heaven.
