Mallee Mower Racing Brings the Action to Carrickalinga!
Mallee Mower Racing brought the roar of modified mowers to Carrickalinga for its Mow the Coast event, with racers, officials, volunteers and supporters coming together for a successful day of racing.
Held on Saturday, August 15, the event was another round of the club’s 2026 championship season and saw competitors battle it out across a range of classes for valuable championship points.
A significant amount of work went into the event well before the first mower hit the track. The club worked closely with the landowner, local authorities and AASA to ensure the event could be run safely and successfully, while countless volunteer hours went into everything required for race day.
A special mention goes to Craig Haywood from C Haywood Excavating, who put an enormous amount of time and effort into preparing the Carrickalinga track in the lead-up to the event. His work continued throughout race day, maintaining the track and helping ensure competitors could enjoy the best racing possible.
Once racing got underway at 10am, competitors provided plenty of action throughout the day. From the juniors under 8 years old racing the Mallee Bugs through to the faster modified classes up to 450cc bike engines, there was close racing, plenty of dirt flying and some great battles around the Carrickalinga track.
As part of our commitment towards the safety of our competitors, we had to call off the racing with one heat to go. Most drivers were very happy with this as they were completely exhausted from the very demanding circuit.
The club extends a huge thank you to its officials, flaggies, pit crew, track workers and volunteers who gave up their time to keep the day running safely and smoothly.
The event was also supported by Yankalilla CFS, while Liquid Delights, Two Fat Blokes Pizza and Rapid Bay Primary School provided food and refreshments throughout the day. Rapid Bay Primary School used the opportunity to raise funds towards its whole-school camp.
