The prestigious Australian Endurance Championship name returns

For the first time since 2019, the Australian Endurance Championship will be battled out on local race tracks this season.

The Australian Endurance Championship holds significant history in local motorsport and will replace the APC Enduro Championship moniker going forward.

First contested during the Group C era of Australian touring car racing in 1981, the Australian Endurance Championship has gone through many eras including use in production car and GT racing, but in its new role will combine both these disciplines.

Previous winners of the Australian Endurance Championship include Allan Moffat, Jim Richards, Peter McLeod, Glenn Seton, Grant Denyer, Tony D’Alberto and Garth Tander.

It was last contested by production cars in 2015, when it was combined with another famed name in the Australian Manufacturers’ Championship.

The move to the Australian Endurance Championship exemplifies the changes that have occurred in the series ahead of this season and adds to the prestige of the five-round title.

Racing on the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series ensures it will combine at some rounds with another revered name in local motorsport, the Australian Drivers’ Championship.

As part of the launch is a new logo to match the category's direction, as a strong field is expected to contest the opening round of the Australian Endurance Championship on May 1-2 at Queensland Raceway.
