Tarmac Events WA: The 2026 Season Outlook
As the dust settles on the opening exchanges of the year, the 2026 Tarmac Events WA calendar is officially in full swing. This year promises to once again shine a very impressive spotlight on Western Australian motorsport, blending the high-octane atmosphere of the Perth Motorplex with the breathtaking coastal and forest backdrops of our regional stages.
Whether you are a seasoned competitor fine-tuning your lines or a newcomer looking to enter your first sprint, 2026 offers a diverse array of challenges designed to test man and machine alike in unique Tarmac Rally environments seen only here with Tarmac Events WA.
While the calendar year has just turned, the Shannons Rallysprint Series momentum actually began late last year. We officially kicked off the 2026 competitive cycle with Round 3 on January 15th, where a massive field of 82 cars descended upon the Perth Motorplex and its wildly exciting layout.
The midweek atmosphere in Kwinana remains unmatched. With competition starting at 6:30 PM, fans were treated to a rapid-fire succession of exotic builds and precision driving under the floodlights. For those following the series, the road to the championship continues through the autumn with Round 4: February 19, Round 5: March 19, and the Season Finale, Round 6: April 9.
The action doesn't end with the championship crowning in April; we return to the Motorplex on August 9 for the highly anticipated Mid-Year Shannons Rallysprint, a perfect opportunity for teams to shake down new builds before the spring season.
As we move into March, the tarmac rally community heads south. The Albany Rallysprint (March 1–2) remains a highlight of the regional tour. Spanning two days and two distinct locations offering a unique and picturesque challenge.
March 1, sees us at the Quaranup Sprint along the Vancouver Peninsula. This is a technical, driver-focused stage with limited access, rewarding those fans willing to trek for the best vantage points. March 2, shifts the energy to Middleton Beach. This is a true community event, featuring a Service Park in the beach car park, local markets, and spectacular spectator points along Flinders Parade and the Marine Drive Rotary Lookout.
The southern swing concludes on March 28 with the Lance East Exotics Tarmac South West in Pemberton. The towering Karri forests provide a stark contrast to the coastal stages of Albany, demanding high-speed commitment and absolute focus.
The crown jewel of the calendar, Tarmac West, returns from September 17–20. This four-day extravaganza is more than just a rally; it is a celebration of motorsport that weaves through the very heart of Western Australia.
Spanning from the rolling hills of Toodyay and Chittering to the suburban technicality of Malaga and Ellenbrook, Tarmac West tests every facet of a driver's skill set. The event culminates in a massive Sunday on September 20, featuring the Engine Shop Perth City Sprint: Watching high-performance machinery scream down Riverside Drive is a sight and sound every West Australian should experience. Langley Park will transform into a petrolhead’s paradise, hosting the "Celebration of Motorsport, Hot Rods & Street Machines" display which well and truly brings the city of Perth to life.
It is here where championships are often decided and legends are made. The mix of city stages and open-country sprints makes Tarmac West the most prestigious tarmac rally in the state, attracting the best talent from across the country.
The 2026 season rounds out with the GT Fabrication Bunbury Rallysprint on November 8, a fast-paced urban sprint that has quickly become a fan favorite thanks, in part, to its realisation of every boy racer's dream: industrial estate racing!
Even as we conclude the 2025/2026 cycle, the wheels never stop turning. We are already looking ahead to the 2026/2027 Shannons Rallysprint Series, with Round 1 slated for November and Round 2 in December (dates TBC).
Tarmac Events WA is committed to providing a safe, professional, and exhilarating environment for motorsport. For spectators, most of our events—including the Motorplex rounds and the Albany beach stages—remain free to attend, featuring local food trucks, coffee, and family-friendly atmospheres.
